Connect your app
Use the Saylek API to connect an application to models available to your account. You need an application key, the address for your client's API format, and a suitable model. You do not need to install Saylek on the machine running the application.
1. Create an application key
Open Applications, choose Add application, and give it a name you will recognize. Copy the key when it appears: its secret is shown once. Keep it out of source code and public configuration. If you lose it, create a replacement.

Use the address exactly as shown. Both formats use your Saylek application key. The guides show the field names and examples for each format.
3. Pick a model and test the connection
Use an id from your current model list, not a default model name from another provider:

Choose a model suited to the task. Being listed does not mean it supports every input type, API feature, or tool call. Follow the matching setup guide to send a small test request through your application. A response from that application confirms its connection; seeing a model in the list alone does not.
Models come from your own machines, from people who share with you, and, if you joined a group, from machines in that group. A machine must be available to serve the request; a key does not reserve capacity.
Before sending sensitive content
Hosted requests pass through Saylek and are handled by the serving machine, including when it is your own machine. Privacy and egress explains what travels and the limits of local-only controls. A local-only daemon setting does not make a request sent to the hosted API stay local.
If it does not connect
- Check the base URL against your client's format and confirm it is sending the key.
- Refresh the model list and use the exact id of a suitable model.
